on the line
this song is from a lot like love. the show is seriously very sweet. i'm tempted to watch it again.I'll be there for you
These five words I swear to you.
When you breathe I want to be the air for you.
I'll be there for you
I'd live and I'd die for you
Steal the sun from the sky for you,
Words can't say what love can do.
I'll be there for you
i wanna be everything you ever wanted; today i'm not gonna deny how much you mean to me.

a lot like love
just watched a lot like love, sneak preview. i'm having mixed feelings about whether i like the show.it was a great show! cut out the sexual sounds, one or two sensual scenes and the fickle love crimes and it'll be my absolute favourite romantic comedy of the year - great soundtrack, absolutely sweet love between the two of them, and very cute ashton kutcher complete with very pretty amanda peet.
i think i really should start questioning my stands and how liberal i am with the secular world. as a christian.
thats all i have time for now. ciao!
ps: dont change your mind about watching the show, if you were planning on it. it IS a good show.

i am bored of my blog template
HELLO. I JUST WOKE UP. HELLO. i was doing bio and i feel asleep.will someone please tell me if they, like me, have not started on ANY holiday homework at all?
my fingers hurt from practising the piano this afternoon. i had THREE SOLID HOURS! i'm so proud of myself. thats about the only substantial thing i've done all day.
all week.
and just now, in my dream, i heard my mum singing. she must REALLY have been singing. although i cant remember what the dream was about anymore.
worship team practice tomorrow! but i'm playing for lance's team this sunday. still, i'm looking forward to it.
I AM NOT GOING TO DO MY HOMEWORK! this is the holidays, COME ON! we only have thirty-one measly days to the holidays (and they even make sure to cut it off on the 27th of june cause they started it on the 27th of may) and they have to give us homework!? what kind of a world is this! zhe shi shen me shi jie!
i'm sorry. okay i'm just struggling to grab desperately onto the last few strands of the june holidays, in which i had planned NOT to procrastinate, to make every moment count, and to be TOTALLY ON TOP OF THINGS.
on the homework front, plan failed.

aHhhHh. i am SO screwed. its wednesday and i still havent touched my homework cause i was lazing around all sunday and monday and on tuesday i had bad fever and today i was lazing around watching old vcds. gah. and i havent done half the things i need to do this holidays, either. like, clean my room and wash my shoes, for example. and i still have to go out with my 1000 people and. !!! practice my piano.
unfortunately, unlike evan, i dont get any "kicks" from "adrenaline rushes" of having "multiple tasks to do".

in living everyday
woohoo i must blog about tonight i must blog about tonight! it was one of those "randomly fun nights out", to quote someone, with my mum. we went to bugis, to check out my duffel bag. i had some spare time to walk around the shops on my own cause mum went for a haircut and they didnt let me wait around in the hair salon. so yea, i went around the shops for awhile by myself. then i went to look at the duffel bag! but i realised that the stall in which i had seen it had moved away! =( but i was smart. i saw it was a zinc stall so went up to the shop itself to check it out :D i am so smart. ahaha. k but i didnt get the bag in the end cause i thought it was seriously the hugest thing i'd ever seen, though i really like it tons. then after that went to this clothes shop and!!!! *gets all excited at the thought* tried on this dropoff-one-shoulder and i thought i looked pretty okay in it cause i'm getting quite fleshy (must've been all that carby food from china) . yeah but i didnt dare buy it cause mum wasnt there to approve of the dropoff. in the end when i told her about it she had some objections, come to think of it i should have just bought it then shown it to her. dang. how stupid am i.
yeah then after that we walked around the shops near parco bugis for awhile. saw a variation of the sandals i wanna get, tried them on but felt the flowery design made them look abit too casual. took a nice night walk to suntec and then to esplanade for the bus ride home=) i think those "randomly fun" times occur when the time is short, you see great stuff (no i dont think its necessarily shopping) and i'm in the mood to really appreciate the other person.
finally got some quality (window) shopping done. the shopping in hk sucked! yeah. and mum might wanna drop by KL this holidays again for a spot of shopping. i think everyone is seriously tired of that word by now.

after going to china i think i'm a very lucky person. i mean, i'm not rich or anything, but i dont need anything i dont already have. i dont have a huge big house, but i have a home. i dont have that much money, but i have my clothes, holidays and nice food. i dont have the perfect family but i have parental love. i may not have everything but i have God. seriously, i dont know how i'd live without Him. and, i may not be the prettiest/most perfect/nicest girl in the world but i'm loved. isnt that cool?
sweet.
you make me wonder why i'd ever doubted.

about the trip
exactly fourteen days left to the holidays!!! weekends and today included. and i'm sick! (with mild flu), havent touched my homework yet and still wanna go out with half the people in the world and spend time with my baby. oh and did i mention my picture is in the papers (again)? *ahgg* *retch and die retch and die retch and die!* ahaha. :D
anyway, about china, like i said i would.
day 1
> flew to hongkong on cathay pacific, around 11am flight, lasted around 3+ hours.
> 2 hour transit at hongkong airport, boarded ~6pm flight on cathay again to beijing, reached there around 8+ - 9pm.
> transit to ju(1)yong(1)guan(1) great wall hotel! had to wait a little while in the bus for a family cause the handle of their suitcase just. broke off.
>juyongguan great wall hotel! lay just beside the great wall, actually PART of the olden-day chinese buildings beside the wall. single story everything. pretty cute hotel room with these cute bedroom slippers i was admiring my feet in. even took some pictures of my feet but nah, they were too dark.
day 2
>early morning, around 730 wakeup call! but woke up at around 6+ cause the bright light outside (summer days, long days short nights) made mum think we were REALLY late for breakfast and the tour etc.
>went outside for picture taking cause mum thought the ancient chinese houses were fascinating. okay, so they were. quite. and we could see the great wall from the hotel! oh and on the way out of the hotel there were condom machines everywhere. isnt it amusing that SEX is so blatant there.
>breakfast at the hotel restaurant eatery. the look of the food place was so bad and the food equally horrible (starch everything! carbs everywhere! no meat at all.) it couldnt have qualified as a rastaurant.
>check out of juyongguan hotel. OO did i tell you about the PORTER. !!! OHMAN I MUST TELL YOU I MUST TELL YOU. k see the night before this porter came to deliver my suitcases to my hotel room doorstep (in china they have this practice of delivering your luggage for you so you dont have to do a thing) yeah and when he came i gave him the tip and he took it and smiled in this ALTOGETHER CHARMING WAY. k he was just a boy (like late teens kinda thing) and he wasnt CUTE like good looking CUTE, but there was just something about him man. man man. k i sense someone getting jealous, going grump. :D yeah then when i checked out of the hotel i saw him again!!! but i said i'd stop so yeah.
>yeah so check out, went directly to the great wall to climb it. oo i climbed to the THIRD STATION! but i climbed alone cause mum was afraid of having to climb DOWN the wall (the steps were all of uneven heights and i guess it would have been easy to fall down while coming down). on my way down (i didnt have a watch) i was terrified i'd be late and hold the world up waiting for me so i tried rushing but my legs were all wobbly cause i'd gone all the way up to the third station. and i didnt see anyone else from my tour group cause they all stopped at the second. k i'm bragging. nevermind.
> went to a jade factory! learned about the different kinds of jade and how to tell the grade of the jade (A, B, C). thought it was pretty cool. but i dont wear jade anyway (i dont even WEAR assesories to start of with, i look weird in them) so mum didnt get anything.
>went to ANOTHER jade factory. or rather, a jade SHOP. had lunch there, then bought this tshirt (white, with black and white PAINTED picture of the great wall on it). oo and first experience of the toilets in china. they stank, no toilet paper, unable to flush (so you can imagine the history of shit going down there) and you'll be lucky if the cubicle can even be LOCKED. but. that wasnt the worst of the kind.
> visited the ming tombs. felt so cheated there cause there were supposed to be 13 tombs and i thought i'd see them all, open preserved coffins with exposed bodies of emperors and all (HAHAHA) but in the end i just saw this HUGE epitaph (like as high as a room with a high ceiling high) and a little lump on the mountain with no stick or marking whatsoever to mark the place of burial of ONE of the emperors. now, anybody would feel cheated.
>went to this chinese medical hall, called baishutang or something. saw this guy burn his own hand with a heated-by-fire-for-ten-minutes iron rod just to show us how great his company's after-burn cream was. seriously i wouldnt do that for any company.
>ice lantern display! everyone got big coats (i think i was too short for mine :D ) and we went in to see the ice sculptures displays. just a small place, but some of the sculptures were quite spectacular, esp the one of the glacier cave where there were little ice-icles everywhere :D oh and there was a slide there made of ice but i didnt go down it. (i was in a skirt, blaheugh.)
>!! went for this acrobatics show. pretty worn out looking show-place (i cant remember the word for it suddenly, maybe it'll come to me later), and people placing knives at their throats and doing scary stunts every minute. seriously i much rather preferred the muscular men doing their shaolin martial arts stances with cool fans that made snapping noises all the time to those who bashed and broke iron rods on their heads. i love the muscular men!
>went to novotel oasis spa resort for the night. man that hotel is posh i tell you. they had 3 swimming pools 2 tennis courts 1 basketball court and a huge gymnasium with saunas and beauty and services facilities (yes, whoaaaaa.). spent one night there, mum insisted on using the gym (rachel, your butt is HUGE!) and both of us ended up giggling over the pretty adorable gym instructor.
day 3
> had a GLORIOUS american breakfast at novotel.
>visited the bridge opposite wanping city that lies right in front of beijing. the bridge was never famous till the japanese used it to cross over to china when they invaded it. oh did i tell you the bridge had 487 little lions? sculptures. every one was different, though they cheated abit by just changing little things here and there for some of them, like the position of the ball its paw was on and the angle of tilt of its head.
> visited the summer palace, where the emperor used to go to take "holidays" when he was either bored of his forbidden city or there was a plague in the forbidden city area.
> had a dumpling lunch. now their dumplings arent like those tasty nonya ones we have here in sg, they were more of the hagau kind. and! they DIDNT have hagau, instead they had weird flavours like vegetarian and mushrooms. i think i'm strictly carnivorous or something. ended up being so bored i made an evil looking smiley on my plate with carrots and corn things.
> visited the forbidden city! but having seen so many replicas of the forbidden city (like in the tang city that singapore used to have) and being "so near yet so far" from them in tv shows (eg my fair princess, which i suddenly want to watch), i didnt really get the feeling of awe when i saw the real palace. but seriously, some of the things there were quite cool. like the 700 year old oil lanterns hanging on the ceilings.
> trishaw ride! quite cool. the trishaw driver took a picture of my mum and i when we were in the trishaw, and i guess it was pretty fun having the whole row of trishaws (the entire tour group in trishaws) running along the roads and old chinese houses (some of them really looks quite scary, being so old and worn out and dirty and all). gave the trishaw driver a ten dollar tip, after all he was quite nice.
> had dinner at this guangdong seafood restaurant, only we didnt have seafood (had the normal boring meat dishes we'd been having every single day since we stepped into beijing). and the toilet there was just unbelievable. they had scent burning on the vanity tops, posh mirrors and sinks like in the fullerton hotel. and there was even an attendant to offer your toilet paper and turn on the tap for you when you want to wash your hands. and the soap dispenser is automatic. put your hand under there and blurpb! a little ooze of soap comes out, all pink and cute. hee. :D forgive me, btw, if i'm getting a little boring. this much blogging is killing me.
> extremely long day. went to wang(2)fu(2)jin(3) next (their shopping district) for a spot of shopping. but mum and i didnt know about the cool sidewalk shops so we ended up heading straight for the huge shopping centres (that in the end didnt really sell anything appealing, just some clothes and all and i bought some tops) and when we later realised that we missed the sidewalk shops, dang! yeah.
> back to novotel hotel for the night! but the gym was closed (it was already 11, i told you it was a long day, right?) so mum was disappointed. i bet part of her wanted to see that cute gym instructor again.
> wanted to order some food when we got back to the hotel but the room telephone was spoilt. so we got someone to come to check it out using the telephone in the hall and the repair guy actually came at close to 1+ am, bringing with him the requested iron. and he was really tired (it was obvious, he was yawning and all and looked like he wished he could go to sleep) but he was still nice and all, polite etc. then we tried ordering food, but when i called the food was all sold out (aww) so mum and i thought we'd go to sleep instead. then!!! the waiter actually CAME UP TO MY ROOM to ask me if i wanted food. isnt that so nice! i mean, it was almost 2 in the morning and the way he asked it was as if he'd climb the mountains if i asked. seriously. people in china are the nicest.
day 4
> all this blogging is seriously killing me. and its so hot in here, i'm perspiring and i still have to go out later (thinks of homework and feels kinda dead).
> visited the temple of heaven. its this place where the emperor used to go to worship the gods every year to thank them for a good year past and to ask for more good years to come. yeah then there was this main hall that i wanted to take a picture of but couldnt cause the lady inside stopped me. i should have taken a photo of her face, FLASHED! right there and then and totally pissed her off. hey, she allowed the caucasian ladies in front of me to VIDEO the place! and she didnt let me! !!! that is unfair!
> went to tongrentang, this medicine hall where physicians came and read the pulses of everyone in the tour group, saying that there was something wrong with almost every single one of us, then reccomending medicines to all of us at exhorbitant prices. but yeah, what can i say about all that when my own mum bought medicines because the physician said there was something wrong with the yin-yang shit inside me.
> had lunch at the medical restaurant! yeah k so i forgot the name of the restaurant. and they had good food, and they served ants. yes ants. pork fried in batter-with-ants.
> yeah then we visited de(2)shen(4)men(2)lou(2), an entryway to the great wall that was preserved cause its supposed to have good fengshui. must have something to do with that fact that it was used for the delivery of weapons in the past. yeah and they promoted pi(2)xiu(1)(s), this mythological animal supposed to bring good luck. and they had the authentic sculpture of the pixiu from the past, and they were teaching us how to touch it in order to bring ourselves good luck (snorts) - touch the ears, then touch the face, touch the belly, touch the body, touch the butt, move your hands around the butt (this sounds scandalous, oh so scandalous huh), then put your hands in your pockets to keep the wealth. gahhh. then they sold jade pixius to everyone but of course my mum didnt buy them. not that EYE would have, the whole thing is bullshit.
> journey to cheng(2)de(2). by coach. think we were running late, the coach driver was rushing us along the road and overtaking all the cars. okay and this posed a bit of a problem, cause it was a two-way road and only 2 lanes altogether. and three times he tried overtaking this huge truck (there was construction going on at the area, making it extra dangerous and stuff) and almost crashed headlong into oncoming vehicles coming in the opposite direction. and everyone was kept on the edge of their seats, staring at the road and hoping to God that we wouldnt crash into anything and make the headlines the next day.
> yeah so after the long and kinda scary-dangerous journey we got to yun(2)shan(1) hotel. guess everyone was too tired to really enjoy their dinners.
day 5
> went to bi(4)shu(3)shan(1)zhuang(1), this place belonging to the emperor that he would go to everytime summer befell his forbidden city and it got too hot for him to handle. had a lady filming our entire journey around there, and theres this part where i made a funny face to the camera (haha). oh and we bought muahchee! only the muahchee was really huge and came in only one piece, like a cake. and it was really cute to bounce the cake on the palm of your hand. :D yay. saw the place that was shu(1)fang(1)zhai(1) in my fair princess, hell do i wanna watch that show again. buy the vcd! the entire set! part one and part 2! yay! my pretty princess and handsome princes! but i felt abit cheated cause i had expected to see the words shufangzhai on the building, but ended up seeing a building as insignificant to me as any other cause the REAL shufangzhai in history was really in the forbidden city.
>walked through a replica of a mongolian field with yurts, supposed to be for mongolian visitors when they visited the emperor, as a gesture of warm welcome. stepped into a mud puddle. squeltch! :D
> we went to this pu(3)ning(2)gong(1), a chinese temple with the 1000 armed and eyed buddha sitting there. but mum and i didnt go in cause it was a temple, but turns out the temple was only a small part of the entire structure and around it there were cool lanes and stuff with hawkers selling things. DANG! i wish we had gone in. for the streets. grrrrr. so we waited in the bus with this other family that was sick (you wouldnt believe how many people fell sick during the tour, it was scary, like some contagious disease, but i suppose i cant congratulate myself on having a strong body either cause i am sick NOW). and we wanted to go to the toilet while waiting for them, but houseflies greeted us at the entrance of the toilet and we changed our minds about going to pee.
> visited this potala temple, a mongolian temple that isnt used anymore. but we didnt go in cause the temple was right on a hill that required 300 steps to reach and there wasnt time. so we just stood at the bottom and took pictures. oo and i took some pictures in the chinese princess garb!!! :D whee. ahaha that was so fun la.
> coached back to beijing. i was in chengde remember? yeah but the journey back wasnt as scary, because it was in the day and we were all so tired anyway, we all just konked out and didnt really know what was happening.
> passed by a silk factory on our way back. found out how silk blankets and stuff are made, about quality of silk and all. and they were selling silk blankets and stuff, but mum didnt get us any because they'd probably be too warm for singapore and why do we need silk sheets anyway?
> went to this chinese restaurant for a peking duck dinner. i cant say the peking duck was all that spectacular. but it was an experience i guess. of eating too tender duck meat with non crispy, fatty skin. oh and seeing a mouse sitting on the edge of the cornice (how do you spell that? the way i spell it makes it look cute) watching us eat, then the comotion when everyone noticed it. why do people make such noise on seeing a mouse? it was so far away! and mice are cute. esp this one which was fat and obedient, just sitting there watching us.
> back to novotel hotel. wanted to go to the sauna but decided it was stupid to try and lose weight that way so got an alcoholic (i think my spelling is getting from bad to worse) cocktail and went up to the hotel room to drink it, watching some nice shows all night long before going for a shower and short nap (the only way to ensure my hair stays in place for the next day is to SLEEP on it.) before the flight back to hongkong, morning call at 4am, the next day.
day 6
> flight to hongkong at 8am in the morning from beijing airport
> back to royal plaza hotel where we found we had to carry our own luggage up to the room
> had wanton mee for lunch at the food court in the shopping centre ajoining the royal plaza hotel. man was the wanton mee nice! beats singapore's hands down. but seriously not everything there was good, and hongkong being a shopping and eating place is not entirely true.
> went shopping around the areas after a long back and forth confused journey to the shopping district with another family of father and daughter. bought a top and a bracelet:D
> went back to the hotel and packed porridge for dinner
>headed for ladies street, one of the most famous shopping streets in hongkong. turned out there were more people to spoil the shopping mood than interesting things to see, and we didnt get anything. oh! and we saw this woman running away from a shopkeeper cause she had stolen something. bought some belts at low low prices. saw a playboy duffel bag for s120 bucks but i figured i shouldnt buy it and bust almost all my money. oh but it was playboy!!! with the cute rabits all around. gah.
> went back to the hotel. extremely tiring day cause of all the walking and very very achy legs and feet. had a shower then really died on the bed. ahaha. was really looking forward to going back to singapore to get away from the hongkong crowds and all and see my baby. (wow, one day in hongkong could do/did that to me?)
day 7
> woke up with aching legs all the way up to the shin, but the ache went away after awhile, thank God.
> had a wonderful dim sum breakfast at the hotel. everything there rocked! seriously. i'd go back to hongkong just for the dim sum breakfast.
> yay i'm finally almost done with this blogging thing.
> went to repulse bay
> victoria peak
> neither were spectacular
> quite a disappointment.
> visited this jewellery shop and learned some stuff about gold and all. wanted so badly to buy this necklace thingy but mum didnt want to cause she said i hardly ever wear them anyway. which is. partly true.
> went to another pi xiu shop from which almost no one bought anything cause all the buying of pi xius had already been done in beijing.
> the avenue of stars. not half as cool as the mann's theatre in the states. hongkong is turning out to be a greater disappointment than ever
> had wanton mee lunch again at the food court in the hotel shopping centre. figured i HAD to have the wanton mee again before leaving hongkong for maybe forever.
> shopping! in the hotel shopping centre. but i didnt buy anything there, all the clothes were so grown up and stuff. mum got some stuff though.
> had stuff to eat in a cafe at the shopping place. with the other family of father and daughter (we'd been going out together for almost everything since the start of the tour, mum and the dad must've clicked really well or something. just as well, cause the daughter, who's 25 but acted almost 10, clicked pretty well with me too, so i had company almost all the way). and i had two chocolate truffles. yes. TWO! chocolate truffles. i'd been starching right through the holiday. too much bread and noodles and carbs. i should be destarched. will that happen if i put myself in a dark room for two days, like the leaves?
> TRANSFER TO THE HONGKONG AIRPORT FOR FLIGHT BACK TO SINGAPORE. man had i been waiting for this flight for near 2 whole days. and the time spend waiting at the airport (close to 2 hours) was definately one of the most pleasant and exciting ones ever. walked around with the daughter to the shops and went to the internet cafe place where they had internet connection and checked out mon bébé blog and sent some smses on the singtel messaging service - the joy of sending smses again! :D then mum had some spare coins totalling to about 15 hongkong bucks so she gave them to me to buy ANYTHING I WANTED and i went to watsons and got these gummy thingys :D and a furry pen with a huge pink furry round ball top :D :D! ahaha. and a VERY pleasant flight back to singapore, oh did i mention i've watched the wedding date? while on the flight to hongkong! it just rocked la. ahaha. wheee!!! :D
> touched down at the changi airport ust a few minutes past 12 midnight. home sweet home! :D
yeah so that was the china/hongkong trip. interesting huh? i've spent nearly 3 hours on this entry. (its 6pm now) anyway, some afterthoughts.
> the people in china are seriously very nice. and the hawkers selling stuff on the streets are seriously very nice and quite pitiful too. like, they look as if they'd beg you to buy their products and actually, they are. and its quite sad to think of them begging people to buy their stuff every single day, and most of the time they get ignored. one day, i'm going to go back to china and buy something from every single pedlar i see.
> i do not look good in assesories. and i shouldnt try on girly girly clothes anymore, its just gonna wear down my self esteem.
> i need a new camera
> cathay pacific is really my most favourite airline ever! :D
> singapore's shopping is much better than in other countries, unless maybe in the western countries like the states, or in australia. australia shopping rocks! everything in australia just rules la.
yesterday, had a pretty confusing thing going through my mind at night. then caught this fever, maybe started while i was at my granny's house. got home, kinda tired and feeling cold and everything, went to sleep to nice, cheesy mushy oldies playing in the background on my warm couch=)
going out now, seeya all!

WHOOOOO!!!! I'M BACK!!!!!!!!!!! how mean of me to make you all miss me. so i've seen everything from the 700 year old forbidden city in beijing to the flustered huffing&puffing crowds in the squeezy shops in hongkong. and my tour bus almost crashed headlong into a vehicle coming in the opposite direction thrice, and i've eaten the norms of egg omelette to the give-me-quesy! (is that how you spell it?) pork fried in ant-batter. and my bed is covered in souvenirs and clothes. new clothes.
:D
blog comes later.

i havent blogged in so long i dont really know how to start this anymore. went to kfc today and the moment i got my food i brought it back to the table and started munching on the fries and gulping that ice cold gassy gassy coke with relish and was getting a humongous kick out of it when the salesgirl lady came up to me looking like she was gonna cry and said, "you... you havent paid".
gd grief was i embarassed as hell.
yea then watched madagascar... ohoh the little light brown crying creature is the cutest thing in the world.

no its not about the flawless relationship,
its not about filling in the silences with words,
its about the times that made us stronger,
and the times when we made it through.
time to get off the couch and get something done!
